New Zealand Shines As Futuristic Urban Setting
Sci-fi film Ghost in the Shell showcases another of New Zealand’s diverse locations; an urban environment. Wellington doubles for a futuristic version of Hong Kong, a natural choice according to Producer Ari Arad, “We needed an urban location. We needed a futuristic setting. And we were able to get that in New Zealand. I don’t know if I’ve actually been able to pull off this much of a lock down in any other city before, it’s allowed us to be really flexible and really ambitious.”

Since the establishment of Taipei Film Commission in 2007, we have assisted in 558 international co-productions of different scales, including 175 films.
