New Zealand Shines As Futuristic Urban Setting

Sci-fi film Ghost in the Shell showcases another of New Zealand’s diverse locations; an urban environment. Wellington doubles for a futuristic version of Hong Kong, a natural choice according to Producer Ari Arad, “We needed an urban location. We needed a futuristic setting. And we were able to get that in New Zealand. I don’t know if I’ve actually been able to pull off this much of a lock down in any other city before, it’s allowed us to be really flexible and really ambitious.”

Remember The Alamo!

From EP Financial Solutions: It’s not only states and nations that provide tax incentives for producers; a number of cities with the U.S. are creating incentives to lure filmmakers into their borders. Consider San Antonio, Texas: with its 7.5% rebate on qualified spend, this iconic southern city is home to a magnificent River Walk and the famous Alamo! Notable productions filmed there include Battleship and Stop Loss.

Los Angeles: Your Premiere Filming Destination

Over 100+ years, Greater Los Angeles has hosted thousands of film and TV projects. Solid infrastructure, skilled crews and diverse locations are just a few reasons why filmmakers continue to invest in L.A. -- and also why each day, more than 120 different production companies film in area communities. With support from FilmL.A., which provides a one-stop resource for film permitting, production planning, and community relations, Los Angeles remains the world’s premiere filming destination.

Co-Production Makes Movie Dream Greater

Since the establishment of Taipei Film Commission in 2007, we have assisted in 558 international co-productions of different scales, including 175 films. We regard ourselves as more than just “a team that provides assistance to film crews.” Instead, we aspire to help filmmakers realize their “dreams” which can be a quite challenging task but also the most rewarding part of our job. The process is full of fun, especially when we are faced with unpredictable themes and dreams.
